ARCHIVE: Y2K La Perla Cream Silk Floral Bodice and Skirt Set
The top is a fitted bodice, made to look like a corset with a laced front. This is more for decoration than anything else, but it does give the illusion of a bodice and can be micro adjusted for a tighter or looser fit. The straps are wide and almost to the point of becoming little arm capelets but they're most definitely shoulder straps. The piece is accessed with an invisible side zip and at the back there are two crepe silk smock panels to assist with the fit given that the item cannot be adjusted with the decorative corset laces. Although the bodice is not lined, it has fully moulded bra cups that cannot be seen from the outside to give the best fit.
The skirt is a simpler affair and is a panelled, bias cut design with a thigh slit on the left-hand side. There is a waistband at the back to ensure a sleek fit. The skirt is not lined and fastens to the side with a zip.
The full look is in unused condition, with no faults of any note and was a very costly item new. Both pieces are tagged Italian size 44 which roughly equates to a size UK 12 or US size 8. We think this is reasonably true to size but can fit sizes smaller. We know that the straps have been shortened at the back and to some degree this could be reversed if needed.

What is archival fashion?
Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.
How is archival fashion different from vintage?
While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
