2000s John Galliano Nude Textured Chiffon and Sequinned Dress
In the 2000s, John Galliano’s namesake label carried his theatrical vision into ready-to-wear blending romantic decadence with a provocative, often subversive, edge. True to Galliano’s known love of early-20th century fashion references, this pretty dress takes its lead from the popular tea-dress shapes of the 1940s, filtering them through the whimsical, indie lens of the 2000s.
This dress, circa 2007/2008 commercial collection, is tailored from peachy hued, pleated silk chiffon to a short-sleeved midi-style with an elaborate, ruffled handkerchief hem. There is a wide, rounded neckline which is trimmed with pale peach lace. The neckline and bottom hem of the skirt are adorned with intricate, weighty beadwork and embroidery of leaves, flowers and vines in juicy clashing shades of raspberry, coral, forest green, violet, yellow and cobalt blue. The sleeves are sheer and detailed with tonal smocking and ruffled cuffs. The waist is trimmed with black lace woven with peach ribbon; a Galliano embossed metal logo plaque sits atop the black lace. The dress is lined with a smooth peach manmade cloth for a comfortable wear and fastens under the left arm with a hidden tonal zip.
The dress is in very good to excellent vintage condition. Please note, there are some pinprick-sized holes in the right shoulder and a small snag on the left shoulder - virtually unnoticeable unless inspecting very carefully. Made from 100% Silk with 100% Polyamide lining. The size label has been removed so please check our measurements below. The fabric does not have any stretch to it. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 34" (87cm), Waist: 24" (61cm), Hips: 34" (86cm) and Height: 5' 4" (164cm). She's a size UK 6, US 0-2 and this fit her well with a bit of room to spare.

What is archival fashion?
Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.
How is archival fashion different from vintage?
While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
