2004 Zuhair Murad Runway Haute Couture Pink and Purple Beaded Dress
Zuhair Murad is a renowned Lebanese couturier and known for his romantic, intricate haute couture, bridal, and ready-to-wear collections, often described as glamorous and "dreamy". Founded in 1997 with ateliers in Beirut and Paris, his brand is a favourite on international red carpets, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern femininity.
This dress walked the runway as part of Murad’s Fall 2004 haute couture collection. Made entirely from silk in vibrant pink and purple metallic and painterly florals and lace inserts. The dress has a slash neckline and lower, curved back. Contrary to the runway piece, this gown has been adapted to the needs of the house’s couture client who commissioned it. Short flutter sleeves have been added, crafted from a tonal pale lilac-pink mesh and trimmed with coated, stiff ribbons in coordinating pink and purple cloth which tie prettily at the shoulders. The mesh is embellished with blue and purple sequinned flowers and trimmed with rows of sequins at the cuffs.
The body of the dress has panels of floral cloth, the seams of which are woven with tiny iridescent lilac beads and larger pale pink beads. The top of the dress is crafted from a pale pink mesh and is detailed with tonal lace which is further detailed with sequins. The shape of the lace forms a basque waist. The skirt is flared and panelled with shimmering multi-tonal lace, in hues of baby pink, lilac and pistachio. It kicks out around the wearer as they move. The effect is flamboyant and gives the dress a real sense of drama and movement. The dress is lined in candy pink silk chiffon throughout. It fastens under the arm with a hidden tonal zip.
This dress is in excellent archival vintage condition with no flaws to the silk or the beadwork. The fabric has no stretch. Due to the dress being couture made, there are no other labels inside this dress - please check our measurements carefully. We think it a best size for around a UK 10 or US 6.

What is archival fashion?
Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.
How is archival fashion different from vintage?
While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
