2006 Dolce and Gabbana Purple Satin Corset Dress
This dress is from Dolce & Gabbana's highly glamorous main line circa 2006/2007 and was bought by Circa's owner from Harvey Nichols in the summer of 2007. Flaunting many of the fashion house's beloved signature details, we love the underwear-as-outerwear design and sensuous peekaboo bra detailing. Tailored from thick satin, it is coloured a rich, royal purple hue. The top forms a bustier with cuffs folded over each cup. It is boned all the way around providing that classic Dolce & Gabbana pin-up silhouette. The corset top and nipped-in waist give way to a pencil skirt with pleating at the waistband creating a tulip shape. The dress is fully lined in leopard print satin - a Dolce & Gabbana signature - and is also lined with a black bra crafted from stretch-net and trimmed with lace. The lace and straps of the bra can be seen above the purple satin - a design detail that became a hallmark of the fashion house during this era. The dress fastens at the rear with a hidden gold-tone metal zip which fastens with a logo-debossed zip. This gown hugs that body in that oh-so-Dolce kind of way, accentuating and highlighting the curves. It falls to knee length, with a slit at the back of the skirt for ease of movement.
In excellent vintage condition as it was never worn. The elastic is a little more stretchy than it was but the built-in bra has never been that supportive. Composed of 65% Acetate, 29% Nylon, 6% Elastane, and the lining is 84% Curpo, 16% Elastane. It is labelled an Italian size 46 and the fabric has no stretch. Please check our measurements below as we think it runs a bit smaller and a best fit for a size UK 12-14 or US 8-10 with a trim waist.
