2009 Louis Vuitton Runway Leopard Print Leather Obi Waist Belt
This extraordinary belt walked the runway as Look 2 of 53 in Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2009 ready-to-wear collection, designed by Marc Jacobs. Variations of these wide, elaborately worked belts appeared throughout the show in different colours and finishes, forming an important part of the collection’s rich, Japanese-influenced styling. Inspired by the broad proportions and wrapping construction of a traditional obi, the belt is designed to sit high on the waist and dramatically cinch the silhouette.
The belt is beautifully constructed from a patchwork of leathers including soft nubuck and lambskin in contrasting colours and textures. One section is worked in metallics, another in lustrous purple leather, while a further panel is painted with Louis Vuitton’s distinctive leopard print. Long leather ties in tangerine orange, lipstick red and chocolate brown wrap around the waist, adding another layer of colour and allowing the belt to be adjusted to the wearer. These are finished with two substantial sculptural charms combining wood and gold-tone metal with red and green detailing. The red charm terminates in a chunky gold-tone cube engraved with the “LV” initials, while the green charm is signed “Louis Vuitton” at its base.
In excellent vintage archival condition and has been beautifully preserved. It retains its original large Louis Vuitton dustbag, individual protective dustbags for the charms and its accompanying booklet. Please refer to the measurements below for fit. Spring 2009 is a particular Circa favourite from Marc Jacobs’ tenure at Louis Vuitton, not least for the memorable campaign with Madonna. We also hold other pieces from the collection; so do enquire about these if of interest.

We are happy to find anything you may be interested in from our website. We have an extensive offline collection. It is helpful if you can let us know your size, style, favourite colour to wear and perhaps your budget in advance of your appointment.
Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?
Clients may wish to bring modern shapewear. You may also wish to bring favourite footwear. We often find a classic pair of nude shoes work well when trying-on, or gold and silver. We have a huge variety of slip dresses and petticoats to complete your look. Many of which are also for sale.
Do you have a price range at the showroom?
Many of our lower priced pieces, under £250, are not available to buy online. Dresses usually start at £150 and go up to £30,000 for the very best archival couture. Our bridalwear price points range from £1,000 to £20,000.
Can I bring anyone with me to my appointment?
Yes but please do let us know the size of your party in advance.
Where can I have my circa garment altered?
We offer some alterations in house. Should you need alterations we cannot provide, we can refer you to one of our tried and trusted tailors.
Does Circa have an after-care service?
We will advise you on the best way to clean and preserve your vintage purchases and can also recommend trusted local dry cleaners.
