ARCHIVE - 2012 Runway Documented Prada Flame Shoes
The iconic Prada flame heels were created as part of the brand’s Spring 2012 collection amassing a fanbase that comprised shoe fanatics, influential editors and celebrities. Designed by Miuccia Prada and inspired by 1950s Americana, this cult heel design epitomises the brand’s chic, practical femininity and its occasional bursts of decadence. The collection's sculpted wedges, stick-thin stilettos and pumps were given premium vintage car-inspired treatments and, most notably, cutout leather flames that trailed from the heel. Various colours walked the runway and this playful edition is in vibrant mustard yellow, peachy coral and black patent leather. They are named the “Flame” heel due to the flame-like wing detail on the back of the heel and on the ankle strap.
They have a peep-toe front adorned with a flamboyant bow and the high stiletto heel is coated with black patent leather and is wider at the base to aid balance and ease walking. The insole is a pale nude and has the pale-blue Prada label inserted into the leather. The sole of the shoe is in a pale, nude pink and is christened with the 3D gold Prada logo and stamped with the size. They come complete with their original dust bag and box. A European size 39, UK size 6 or US 8 and in fine unused condition with no issues and the soles barely marked at all.
Every season there are campaigns that the entire fashion world looks forward to, and Prada is easily one of the most anticipated. For Spring 2012, the fashion house enlisted the creative genius of photographer Steven Meisel, to shoot six models at an idealized version of a 1950′s Americana gas station wearing the finest from the collection and we have included some of the campagin shots here with this shoe design featured.
