Wonderful and entirely original, as found, antique Victorian Civil War era pink silk stripe flounced sleeve bodice dating to around 1860. The corsage has stripes of both white and a more peachy coloured pink silk. With a high neck collar the bodice most likely had a matching skirt. The 3/4 flounce shaped pagoda style sleeves may have had engageantes attached at one point in keeping with the fashion of the time. Amazingly the scarf/jabot has survived intact with the bodice and is shown laying flat and without in the pictures. A mixture of hand and machine sewing, it is edged in lace with a brown cotton velvet ribbon running through the lace in striking contrast. The bodice closes with hook and eye closures down the front and is fully lined in a polished cotton fabric fastening with large mother of pearl buttons. In very good antique condition overall, this piece is fragile but could be worn with care. Please contact us for any other measurements or pictures.
