2010s Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Navy Dress with Flared Sleeves
This dress is from Dolce & Gabbana's highly glamorous Alta Moda couture line. Flaunting many of the fashion house's beloved signature details, we love the underwear-as-outerwear detailing seen in the peekaboo black lace around the collar and the internal corsetry. Tailored from inky navy-blue wool, it hugs that body in that oh-so-Dolce way, accentuating and highlighting the curves. The skirt falls to knee-length and has a small slit in the back for ease of movement. The sleeves are cut into an angel-sleeve silhouette, with dramatic flared cuffs that fall over the wrists. The wide neckline shows the collarbones and is trimmed with delicate black lace. Inside, the couture craftsmanship is revealed and it is hand-lined throughout with black silk satin. There is an internal corset that shapes the bust and the waistline. Made from black mesh, the boning encircles the waist and bust, fastening with hook-and-eye clasps. The dress fastens at the back with a hidden zip, alongside hidden snap closures on the lace panel.
Dolce's Alta Moda runway footage and Look Books are famously off-limits for those not invited to the spectacular 3-day events which are held round the world for the house's best clients. We believe this is an earlier design and possibly from the design duo's first Alta Moda collection in 2013. The dress is in excellent condition with no flaws of any note and we cannot se any evidence of wear. It has been cleaned and stored professionally. Due to it being couture-made, it has no size or composition label, so please check our measurements below as the fabric has no stretch. We believe this dress would best fit a sizes UK 10 or US 6 with a little bit of leeway either side in terms of sizing. Our model is a UK 8-10 US 4-6 and 5'9". This dress was a great fit on her.

What is archival fashion?
Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.
How is archival fashion different from vintage?
While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
