1920s Green Lame Tiered Deco Print Dress

£795.00

Lovely 1920s lame dress in gold, sage green, pale blue and dusk pink. Unlined, the fabric is light and airy, and the unusual construction of the gown creates a beautiful movement when worn. The soft boat neck at the front contrasts the stylish cape neck on the reverse, graduating from the top of the sleeve and finishes neatly just below the shoulder blades. The bodice of the dress is a modest shift cut, lightly nipping in at the waist with a delicate seam, and slightly fitted around the hip. A series of small fastenings are concealed by the seam on the left hip line. The full length skirt is characterised by a unique 2 tiered design - one to the front of the garment that finishes at the knee, followed by a second at the reverse, that falls from the back of the knee to the mid calf. The dress is in excellent condition with no damage or tarnishing. Was retailed by Best and Co of New York and Paris circa 1928 - 1933. Would suit US size 8, UK size 12. Our model is a UK 6 US 0-2 and 5'11" and this dress was roomy on her.

What is archival fashion?

Archival fashion refers to historically significant designer garments preserved for their cultural, aesthetic, or technical importance. At Circa, archival fashion includes couture archive pieces, runway garments, early designer work, and museum-quality vintage that document the evolution of fashion history.

How is archival fashion different from vintage?

While vintage typically describes clothing over 20 years old, archival vintage is selected for its rarity, provenance, and relevance to a designer’s archive or fashion history. Circa specialises in archival pieces rather than general vintage.
