Victor Edelstein became a designer at Christian Dior in the 1970's. In 1982 he decided to work exclusively in haute couture although he also designed for the theatre and ballet. Famous clients include Anna Wintour, the Duchess of Kent and Diana, Princess of Wales. He is perhaps most famed for designing the ink blue velvet gown worn by Princess Diana on her visit to the White House where she danced with John Travolta. In 1993 he closed his fashion studio to pursue a career as an artist.
